Summer 2019 Movies Not to Miss

 In Blog

This summer you probably have a list of things you want to do. Go to the lake. Eat soft ice cream. Play some mini golf. Take a bike ride. After all, summer is all about being outside and enjoying the great weather.

But, if a rainy day comes along or the temperature is so hot that you can’t imagine spending another minute outside, then head to the movie theater. Summer is also the season of blockbusters! This summer should be no exception!

movie bowlGodzilla: King of Monsters (May 31st)

If you love monster movies and were a fan of the 2014 Godzilla movie, then you are looking forward to this sequel. Stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, and Sally Hawkins will all face off against Godzilla, plus a few other mighty monsters.

Rocketman (May 31st)

Musical biopics are very popular right now and the next one to be released is “Rocketman.” This movie tells the story of Elton John from his life as a child musical prodigy to his battle with addiction to his prolific musical career. There’s also a touch of fantasy in this movie – so Paramount’s billing of it as a musical fantasy is quite accurate.

Dark Phoenix (June 7)

Summer isn’t complete without a good superhero movie, and so the X-Men series brings you Dark Phoenix. Sophie Turner stars as Phoenix and is joined by Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender. This is the 12th movie in the X-Men series – and they show no signs of slowing down.

Late Night (June 7)

Emma Thompson stars as a late night talk show host who thinks she’s going to be replaced. Mindy Kaling stars as the only female writer to work on Emma’s show. Mindy wants to help Emma keep her show and bring about some big changes. Two great actresses in one great summer movie.

Men In Black: International (June 14)

The Men in Black have always protected the universe. This summer Chris Hemsworth, Liam Neeson, and Tessa Thompson are back to help. But, there’s one problem. There seems to be a mole in their very own organization.

Toy Story 4 (June 21)

Pixar brings the 4th installment in the Toy Story series this summer. Both of your favorites – Buzz and Woody – are back and will introduce you to a newcomer, Forky. You’ll also see what happens to them as Bonnie takes them on a summer road trip. Kids will love this sequel!

Spider-man: Far From Home (July 5)

Peter Parker wants to go on vacation to Europe this summer, but is it really going to be a carefree vacation? No. Peter finds that he has a new enemy, Mysterio, who he’ll need to fight.

The Lion King (July 19)

Walt Disney brings this new version of the Lion King this July. This movie is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of the original and has a lot of star power behind the voices. Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Beyonce, Seth Rogen, John Oliver and many more will help bring all of your favorite characters to life. Casting began two years ago for this movie – and it’s finally coming to life!

Even if a rainy day doesn’t happen this summer, there are some great movies to go and see. Head to the movie theater with a bucket of popcorn and watch one of these films. Or, head to the drive-in and see one on the big screen. These blockbusters are sure to keep your attention!
